Clinical Services Model

Children’s Bureau provides evidence based counseling services to children and families. We have specialized training to support children and families impacted by a traumatic event, as well as those who have lost a loved one or witnessed and/or been a victim of violence.

  • Children typically receive therapy for 12-18 months
  • We develop strategic partnerships that allow us to concentrate our staffing in settings where youth have high levels of trauma exposure.
  • Through Project LAST (Loss and Survival Team), we embed our clinicians and services with the following partners:
    • Cafe Reconcile, Liberty’s Kitchen, YEP, Covenant House, Louisiana Green Corp, and Job 1
    •  The Orleans and Jefferson Parishes Juvenile Courts
    • The Orleans and Jefferson Parish Child Advocacy Centers
    • School-based partners that host grief and trauma groups and/or make space for clinicians to work with clients on-site during the school day

Children’s Bureau’s social workers and counselors are trained in a variety of evidence-based interventions, including the 10-week Grief and Trauma Intervention (GTI).
