Children’s Bureau provides evidence based counseling services to children and families. We have specialized training to support children and families impacted by a traumatic event, as well as those who have lost a loved one or witnessed and/or been a victim of violence.
Children typically receive therapy for 12-18 months
We develop strategic partnerships that allow us to concentrate our staffing in settings where youth have high levels of trauma exposure.
Through Project LAST (Loss and Survival Team), we embed our clinicians and services with the following partners:
Cafe Reconcile, Liberty’s Kitchen, YEP, Covenant House, Louisiana Green Corp, and Job 1
The Orleans and Jefferson Parishes Juvenile Courts
The Orleans and Jefferson Parish Child Advocacy Centers
School-based partners that host grief and trauma groups and/or make space for clinicians to work with clients on-site during the school day
Children’s Bureau’s social workers and counselors are trained in a variety of evidence-based interventions, including the 10-week Grief and Trauma Intervention (GTI).
